 The mountains of Northern Pakistan are among the most impressive in the world. They contain five of the world’s 8,000 m. peaks and a landscape that is truly unique. From fertile lowland valleys the scenery changes to that of small mountain villages, tumbling glaciers and the jagged skyline of the Karakuram. Until recently their only drawback has been their inaccessibility, their remoteness and poor roads making any visit to see them a major undertaking. With the building of the Karakuram Highway and the advent of mountain flights, more of this mountain wilderness is accessible to the adventurous traveller. Our destination is the fabled Hunza Valley, a fertile land situated high in the Karakorum, dominated by the imposing bulk of Rakaposhi (7,788 m.). The valley was described by the explorer Eric Shipton as “the ultimate manifestation of mountain grandeur” and few who visit the Hunza Valley would disagree. We visit the small forts that once defended the kingdom and terrorised the caravans of the Silk Road and enjoy the hospitality of the inhabitants, reputed to live to 120 because of their healthy diet. Walking through the villages, terraces and orchards, and climbing into the mountains our aim is Rash lake and the trekking peak nearby, from where we get an unrivalled view of much of the Karakuram range.

 Itinerary:

Day    01      Arrival at Islamabad.

Day    02      Drive to Chilas, Hotel.

Day    03      Drive to Karimabad Hunza.

Day    04      Morning Free, Afternoon Drive By Jeeps to Hoper, Camp.

Day    05      Trek across Barpu Glacier, to Barpu Giram, Camp.

Day    06      Trek to Chidin Harai, Camp.

Day    07      Trek to Rush Lake, Camp.

Day    08      Day free for excursion to Rush Peak (5098m). Providing an

all-round panorama and possible to see the summit Of K2.

Day    09      Trek down to Phai Phari,

Day    10      Trek to Hamdar, Camp.

Day    11      Trek to Hoper and drive by Jeeps to Karimabad, Hotel.

Day    12      Morning free, afternoon Drive to Gilgit, Hotel.

Day    13      Fly to Rawalpindi Or Drive to Besham, Hotel.

Day    14      Free day in Rawalpindi Or Drive Besham to Rawalpindi.

Day    15      Fly Home.
